Call for Applications is invited at MILEAD FELLOWS PROGRAM-2012 to identify Africa’s most promising young women leaders. Moremi Initiative joins UN Women and Mbuto Foundation to host: “UN Women Africa Consultative Conference on Youth” on May 29-31, Kigali.
Moremi Initiative for Women’s Leadership in Africa is a non-profit organization which operates throughout Africa. To achieve its mission, Moremi Initiative pursues proactive strategies to develop and empower women and girls to take on leadership roles in their communities. The organization believes that the full and active participation of women in decision-making is essential for positive change and development in Africa
Incorporated in the year 2004, as Women’s Initiative for Empowerment and Leadership Development (WIELD) Foundation, Moremi Initiative grew from a Ghana-based leadership development program to a pan-African wide program.
Moremi Initiative focuses on long-term development of women leaders who can help transform and change institutions that legitimize and perpetuate discrimination against women. It is an African initiative for African women which draw on the skills and expertise of women and girls across the continent.
The MILEAD Fellows Program is a one-year leadership development program designed to identify, develop and promote emerging young African Women leaders to attain and succeed leadership in their community as well as throughout Africa. The program targets dynamic young women interested in developing transformational leadership skills which help them tackle issues affecting women in their communities and society as a whole. Applications are welcome from young African women living in Africa and the Diaspora.
