Introduction
Conducting research on prospective institutional donors can be an overwhelming process and many NGOs don’t know where to start. This online seminar will discuss some basic approaches to effective donor research methods. A key focus will be on how to use a variety of free internet tools to identify new international donors for your NGO.
Objectives
The Basic Prospect Research online seminar will provide introductory information on the following topics:
- Organizing and ranking institutional prospects
- Sources of information for identifying new donors
- Databases and directories containing foundations from around the world
Participants
This introductory course is ideally suited to fundraisers from developing countries who want to build their capacity through an understanding of basic proposal writing for NGOs and individuals who want to develop their professional skills and effectiveness.
Training Methodology
The course will be delivered through online seminar (also referred to as ‘webinar’). A webinar or online seminar is a web-based seminar where the training will be offered entirely through the internet. Registered participants will be get invitations to visit the webinar website, where they can attend the course program. Participants from any part of the world can attend it. Even if you miss attending the live webinar, there will always be an option for you to watch the recording webinar on your computer and access the related materials.
This webinar, or web-based seminar, training program gives you the information you need to fundraise for your NGO effectively in a convenient, inexpensive and yet interactive way.
The course will consist of a 60 minute presentation where you will see the slides and hear the trainer, followed by a 30 minute Q&A session during which your questions will be answered by the trainer in real time.
This course is supported by extensive additional materials for participants to use after the course, including access to the webinar presentation, webinar slides, and training materials. Registrants who have difficulty in attending the ‘live’ webinar can watch the recorded webinar at their convenience.
About the trainer
Meghan Arakelian is a Program Associate at Philantropia Inc. and is an experienced international fundraiser and researcher. She is especially skilled in conducting prospect research of international institutional donors. She has helped organize and led components of fundraising trainings in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.
