More Details: Basil has extensive experience in the areas of project development and management with specialist background in community and social sector implementation. In this sector he has also worked as trainer, gender equity adviser, genealogy field assistant and participated in a range of projects targeted towards integrated environment and conservation development, community communication and participation in PNG. He has demonstrated high level of competency in both field and office management and administration of project assignments relating to community and social development. Basil has added skills and experience in, training and workshop facilitation. Most of his work has been done in collaboration with Non-governmental Organizations, PNG Government and statutory authorities. He has participated in several projects of major donors including World Bank, UNDP, AusAID and NZAID. In his role as Project Manager and Procurement Officer with the Asian Development Bank-funded Employment Oriented Skills Development Project he has been directly involved in the management of human and financial resources to meet training outcomes across all regions of PNG. He has been involved in several high level international funded socio-economic impact studies that among others propose strategies for effective integration of gender equality and women’s empowerment as well as landowner participation at all levels and the learning of lessons about successful approaches to integrating gender equality in village-based development initiatives. Basil has recently completed three (3) assignments on behalf of URS Australia Ltd under contracts from Barrick (PNG) Ltd/PJV in which, he assisted in an SIA survey, updating of SML LO’s genealogy, development of proposed resettlement action program, assisted PJV in the formulation and development of proposed risk management processes under auspices of Landowner Partnership Initiative of the traditional landowners of the Porgera Gold Mine and coordinated and implemented supplementary data collection on the Highlands Highway relative to AusAID-funded Key Road for Growth Maintenance Project (KRGMP). Basil is now embarking on a new initiative in peace building and peaceful co-existence with and through children and youths in some key urban centres in PNG and at some big development sites such as mining sites.
