The EU-funded ‘Education Sector Development Programme’ (ESDP) II seeks to make a significant contribution to the development of the sector as a whole.
The major objective is to contribute to a sustainable, cohesive education system providing relevant services to the majority of the relevant age groups. Moreover the main purpose is to strengthen delivery of effective education services, addressing the population’s demands.
- Result 1: Capacity of the partner administrations and institutions strengthened at all levels
- Result 2: Equitable access to relevant formal and non-formal education and training increased
- Result 3: Pedagogical skills of primary and secondary education teachers and TVET trainers
Improved and teachers certified
This Call for Proposals builds and enhances access to education and training at all levels. Moreover, it contributes to improved retention, within a structured system for the targeting of vulnerable Somalis, including the disabled, poorest, orphaned and vulnerable children, disadvantaged girls along with women, minorities and other vulnerable groups.
The subsequent improvement in the qualification level of teachers and managers, quality and relevance of learning should improve, thereby contributing reduced dropout levels. The support of sustainable education services must follow an integrated approach, which will facilitate a common application of sector-related minimum standards on the basis of education sector policy and strategy formulation.
Capacity building components will support the Ministries of Education in the coordination of activities. The Education Sector Committees will support the Ministries in their overall coordination of external support, which will be responsive to Education Sector Plans as they materialize and are formally endorsed by governments.
