The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) invites applications to its Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program. This Fellowship programme enables activists, scholars, practitioners and journalists throughout the world to deepen their understanding of democracy and enhance their ability to promote democratic change.
This fellowship programme was incorporated in the year 2001 by the U.S. Congress and supported annually through a grant from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor and the Reagan-Fascell Democracy.
Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program is based at NED’s International Forum for Democratic Studies, in Washington, D.C.
The program offers two tracks:
- A practitioner track which is typically three to five months in duration enables to improve strategies and techniques for building democracy abroad
- Another is the scholarly track typically five to ten months in length to conduct original research for publication. Projects may highlight on the political, social, economic, legal and cultural aspects of democratic development and may include a range of methodologies and approaches
Support: The fellowship year begins October 1 and runs through July 31, with major entry dates in October and March. All fellows receive a monthly stipend, health insurance, travel assistance, and research support.
