The Women’s Rio+20 Good Practice Award competition has been created in order to commemorate over 100 Heads of State and 25,000 participants gathering in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development from 20th – 22nd of June 2012.
Women-led organizations and groups working on sustainable development in developing countries are invited to nominate their initiatives to be recognized as one of five winning projects at the UN Rio+20 summit in Brazil this June 2012
A total of five non-governmental initiatives carried out by women-led organizations and groups working in sustainable development in developing countries will be considered for this award.
The initiatives may be of any type but should focus on one of the following five categories: Food Sovereignty, Climate Adaptation, Decent Jobs and Health, Water and Sanitation, or Sustainable Energy. Additional favor will be given for initiatives whose work involves the following interdisciplinary issues: Human Rights and Women’s Rights; Ensuring Corporate Responsibility, Accountability and Redress; Access to Information, Justice and Public Participation; and Improving Livelihoods, Women’s Economic and Political Empowerment.
