The Program awards fellowships by invitation to young scholars and analysts to conduct advanced research at JIIA. Scholars or researchers in the fields of international relations, international politics and economics, security, area studies and/or journalism who work in institutes, think tanks, or universities.
Eligibility-
- Applicants must be scholars or researchers in the fields of international relations, international politics and economy, security, area studies and/or journalism, and be at least Master’s degree holders or PhD candidates
- Applicants must be no more than 45 years of age.
- Persons who have previously received a JIIA Fellowship or who presently reside in Japan are not eligible
- Applicants should currently be employed (applicants should get advance permission to be absent from their offices)
- Applicants should have the ability to write their reports in English or Japanese
- Applicants must be in good health
- In principle, applicants must be able to stay continuously in Japan during the term of the fellowship.
