VICTORIA POINT STATE HIGH SCHOOL Year 8 Academic Scholarships are open to any student entering Year 8 in 2013 who can demonstrate strength and aptitude in their academic studies. Scholarship Program Recipients will be engaged in the Academic Excellence Program.
The Academic Excellence Program aims at extending and challenging students beyond Year 8 junctures. Students will engage in academic and other challenge competitions. Scholarship holders will enter a special Honors subject during Year 8 which will include an independent study as well.
The Scholarship applicant process is as follows:
- · Applicants must have completed an enrolment interview with the Principal, in the first instance;
- · Applicants are then required to submit the following: a completed Scholarship Application Form, together with a completed Resume addressed to Mr John Corbett, Principal, Victoria Point State High School,
- · Students will sit for the SAGES (Screening Assessment for Gifted Elementary Students) on either Monday 6 August, Wednesday 8 August, or Friday 10 August, 2012 at 8.00am sharp. The screening will take 45 minutes. Other times will be arranged for students unable to attend the morning sessions.
- · Successful students will be advised of the outcome of their Scholarship Application on Monday 20 August 2012.
Students awarded a Scholarship will have their progress reviewed in June/July 2013. Students awarded a Scholarship must continue to meet the Level 1 behavioural standards in the Victoria Point State High School “Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students” during the period of their scholarship.
Scholarship Value:
Year 8 Scholarship 2013 Value: $400 per successful student.
The Scholarship value will be held by the school. Parents can access the Scholarship value for the following:

· Honours Class Levy
· Subject Competition/s costs
