NIH invites applications for Development and Testing of Novel Interventions to Improve HIV Prevention, Care, and Program. Implementation to support the global burden of disease which has shown variations across nations, with notable reductions in some areas, while new cases have increased in others. Substance use contributes to the disproportionate burden of disease in many populations and regions in the US and overseas. Areas of emergent HIV epidemics such as Eastern Europe and East Asia often have coincided with the changes in the patterns of substance use, including opiate injection and the use of stimulant drugs.
