Agropolis Fondation is a French grant-making foundation that supports as well as promotes high-level interdisciplinary research and higher education in agricultural sciences and sustainable development. Its founding members are France’s main research and higher education institutions in the sector namely CIRAD, INRA, IRD and Montpellier SupAgro.
The Foundation supports interdisciplinary research that focuses on key issues facing the temperate, tropical and Mediterranean regions including adaptation to climate change, increasing demand for food and nonfood uses, as well as the prevention and management of risks related to crop and food systems.
Since its inception, Agropolis Fondation has privileged integrative (from genes to systems up to the final use of products) and interdisciplinary approach (biological, engineering, human and social sciences, as well as other disciplines) to Plants of agronomic interest. As such, proposals submitted under this Call for Proposals should involve at least one of the following integrating and interdisciplinary axes:
- · Development of plant phenotypes
- ·: #000000;”>·: #000000;”>· From genes to products: integrated approaches for assessing, controlling and improving the
- · quality of plant products
In compliance with its mission, Agropolis Fondation aims at promoting international scientific mobility that enables leading and promising scientists and other stakeholders from the North, the South or the Mediterranean to work with their counterparts from foundation’s scientific network thereby contributing to building scientific capacity and promoting the creation of network of excellence. In particular, proposals submitted under this Call are expected to favor links with international research centers or programmes such as, but not limited to, the centers and programmes from the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
This call for applications “Open Science” is aimed at promoting new ways of doing Research, by favoring:
• Transformative approaches that enable to better construct and formalize scientific questions associated with socio-economic issues in the development of innovation or in a societal problem; to favor the use of generated knowledge; to integrate various scales and biologies; to manage data complexity (complex systems and systemic approaches); to better characterize, explore and exploit the diversity of biological systems; to move towards ecological engineering of agro-ecosystems and food-processing systems; to promote gender-responsiveness and gender balance;
• Innovative partnerships involving stakeholders from the private sector (foundations, industrial partners or other non-conventional research actors (e.g., NGOs, CSO…) in an effort to employ original approaches.
Eligibility:
This Call is open for all stakeholders in agricultural research and sustainable development provided that the proposed project is led by a scientist from the research unit of Agropolis Foundation’s scientific network. Partners outside of the Foundation’s scientific network interested to submit a proposal should contact and develop their application jointly with at least one of the Foundation’s research units.
Proposals that are co-led by external partners are also eligible.
