Prospective leaders in developing countries get an opportunity to stay and carry out research work in Germany for a period of one year under the International Climate Protection Fellowships programme of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The programme is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety under the International Climate Initiative.
If you are working in the field of climate change and resource conservation in academia, business or administration in your country, then you can apply for this opportunity. However, you must provide a clearly visible leadership potential either by experience in a first leadership position or be able to provide appropriate references. You are also required to complete your first university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent academic degree) less than 12 years prior to the start of the fellowship (1 September 2013) with outstanding results. You must also have extensive professional experience in a leadership role (at least 48 months at the time of application) or hold a further academic or professional qualification.
After evaluating the application documents, an independent expert committee will decide which applicants will be invited to a Selection Meeting in Germany, which lasts several days. The Selection Committee is composed of domestic and international experts from all fields and votes on applications by simple majority. The Humboldt Foundation office has no vote on the Selection Committee.
The deadline to submit applications is 1 December 2012. For more information, visit this link.
