AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines & Northern Illinois University (NIU) jointly invites applications for 2013 Philippine Youth Leadership Program (PYLP 10) to provides new knowledge and experience to the participants but also prepares them for a lifetime of leadership and community service. The knowledge and the attitudinal changes this program intends to instill will empower them to become catalysts for social change in Mindanao.
AFS is an international, volunteer-based, non-profit, non-governmental, non-religious organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.
Their are different Criteria for both Youths and Adults, these are as follows-
Youth Applicant-
Eligibility-
Must be a Filipino citizen/national, between 15-17 years old as of April 12, 2012 and enrolled either in 3rd year high school or 1st year college/university level residing in eligible areas in Philippines at the time of application deadline
Criteria
- Active involvement in community service
- Good academic performance
- Active engagement in peace building
Adult Applicant–
Eligibility-
Must be a Filipino citizen/national, maximum age of 35 years old as of April 12, 2013 and residing in eligible areas in Philippines at the time of application deadline
Criteria–
- Preferably teachers, NGO and community leaders who work with the youth
- Actively involved in peace-related activities or community outreach projects
- Active involvement in projects related to training youth to be responsible citizens
- Active evidence that they will return to the Philippines, will remain in current job after the program and attend Follow-on Activities
How to apply?
Please print legibly and do not leave any item unanswered in the application form . Applications with incomplete entries or supporting documents and institutional endorsement will not be considered.
Place applicants accomplished application form and all documents in an envelope, or when emailing scan all documents and make sure they are saved in PDF format, and send to AFS Intercultural Programs Philippines to the physical or email address given in website.
When sending applications by physical mail, please immediately inform AFS national sending program staff by SMS or through a call as to when s/he should expect to receive it.
