The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification has launched the call for expressions of interest on UNCCD best practices. aims at providing UNCCD Parties with an overview on existing expertise and capacity which could support the CRIC in its tasks of compiling, reviewing and disseminating best practices on two UNCCD thematic topics:
- Sustainable land management technologies, including adaptation;
- Funding and resource mobilization.
The call will enable the Secretariat and the Global Mechanism to compile a roster of potentially interested and technically equipped organizations which will be considered by Parties at CRIC 11 for pertinent recommendations to COP 11.
Any organization, whether national or international, governmental or non-governmental, which has a legal personality and which maintains publicly accessible databases relating to the relevant themes of best practices, is eligible to participate.
The outcome of the present call for expression of interest will be considered at the eleventh meeting of the CRIC (CRIC 11), with a view to recommending to the COP a number of organizations and databases which would assist in receiving, compiling and disseminating best practices on two thematic topics. The COP will take a final decision on this matter, after which the PRAIS database of best practices on thematic topic (a) will be transferred to the selected database(s), and new submissions on thematic topic (f) will be compiled trough the UNCCD reporting process.
