Nature of organization :-
A Secular Non profit making voluntary service organization
Foundation: The organization was established in 2002 and was legally registered on 1st July 2004 of 281/2004
Vision :- A transformed Society in which the people have access and control over the resource and decision making process to ensure social justice, equal opportunity and equitable sharing of resources for fasting changes in their quality of life.
Mission :- To develop the strengthen community Based organization (CBO’s) to enhance their capacities and solidarity, to create a network between CBO’s leading to form a pressure group for activity and lobbying
Goal :- Improved livelihood systems and strengthen oppressed communities of vulnerable villages in Santhabommali, Seethampeta, LN.Peta Kothuru, Hiramandal mandals of Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh by the 2015.
Target Area :-Fisher men communities of Santhabommali mandal , Tribal villages in Seetampeta Revenue mandal. Of Srikakulam District of Andhra Pradesh. India.
Target groups :-Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, B.C and other vulnerable and oppressed communities and Child labour women and persons with addicted
GENESIS OF THE ORGANISATION:
Nevertheless the state of Andhra Pradesh is being considered on of the pioneering states in the country, increasing poverty is the existing fact in the state, Despite the area is getting development, the majority of people are still remaining poor and dwelly in acute poverty. The opportunities or programme meant for poor have not been reaching the real beneficiaries. In this context, Mr.Ch.Paul, Mr. G. Amminaidu and like minded colleagues have come forward to commit themselves for the development of the poor people, as with their own participation, that was the main reason why Lay people Education And Development Society ( LEADS) come into existence in the 2002.
LEADS is a mass initiative totally devoted towards the integrated development of primitive tribal groups of Savara Tribal and Scheduled Caste people in the remote villages of Srikaklam District. And coastal of Bay of Bengal sea dwelling people., where there was people are under much difficulty circumstandes. These people have no other means of earning to maintain their except by their daily fishing and agriculture labour in daily wages process. And these people are facing much problems as and when there is no work then no food for them. Due to the above drastic situation, most of them are migrating to various places so far from here to get livelihood.
In this severe position , some of social development activists are decided to solve problems of the people of this region by tapping locally available resource , in order to relate employment opportunities to the deserved target families in tha villages for which we had special thrust on the effective development of women and children in the I initial stages we have conducted participatory Rural appraisal ( PRA) in all our adopted villages to know the situation people and their problems during the time of PRA we collected information from local villagers and analyzed the problems as follows.
Illiteracy, lack of proper health care facilities lack of employment migration lack of water for irrigation etc as according to the above problems the people have given highest priority to eradication of illiteracy to make the above vision in reality Ch. Paul who is the secretary, and other like minded 7 persons as governing body to the Laypeople Education And Development Society (LEADS) had decided to start some integrated development projects for the sustainable development of aboriginals of this region other downtrodden communities of other mandals in Srikakulam Dt. A.P. He himself approached several organizations for support and guidance Mr. Ch. Paul is a noted social activist in this area and he was very much tried to make these people to aware in their rights and responsibilities
MAJOR OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANISATION:
• To foster the development of the women children disadvantaged marginalized groups in the society.
• Empowering the poor by way of offering services to give minimum access to development
• Streamlining the holistic development of the poor and vulnerable in the society that is leading hand to mouth and precarious living conditions.
• To motivate and educate the masses as about their own development and to prepare them to tap all resources meant for them.
PRESENT EXECUTIVE BODY:
This organization has well managed governing body consisting of 7 experienced and like minded from different walks of life they regularly meet in every half year and take decisions relating to operation personnel administration & resource mobilization etc.. the board members also take planning exercise and give importance to get feed back from village representation and experts. INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE ORGANISATION:
We have our administrative office at Tamarapalli we also have trained staff at various disciplines one of our executive secretary is having desirable experience in social development field and undergone several training like community organization and development training and he also participated in human resource development training all of our staff was trained in micro- planning participatory poverty assessment we have 6 full time staff. in our in Adult literacy programme area our staff members trained in empowerment and CBO’s environment protection, impact of deforestation and afforestration, Child development programme we have our own infrastructure like office and computer type writer one motorbikes etc
