Applications are invited for Australia Awards in Africa (AAA) Alumni Small Grants Scheme to support alumni and alumni associations as they become involved in development activities in their home country.
AAA provides direct financial support through its Alumni Engagement Strategy to alumni, alumni networks or associations, and organizations employing alumni. Eligible alumni networks/associations and employing organizations can apply for funding through the AAA Small Grants Scheme.
The Small Grants Scheme includes activities that have the following objectives-
- to provide seed funding that enables eligible networks or associations to commence operations
- assist members of eligible alumni networks and associations to carry out activity that has a clear intended development benefit linked to Millennium Development Goals
- assist individual alumni or groups of alumni in countries where there is no alumni network or association to carry out activity that has a clear intended development benefit linked to Millennium Development Goals
- to provide eligible employing organizations with seed funding to enable an important development activity related to an alumni Reintegration Plan
- to enable individual alumni to carry out one-off professional development activities
Award-
Grants will be awarded to a maximum of AUD$A10, 000 per activity for networks/associations and employing organizations; and AUD$A5, 000 for individual professional development activities. AusAID reserves the right to approve funding above these amounts for proposals that have exceptional merit.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- Eligible alumni networks and associations are those which-
- are aligned with Australia Awards in Africa
- commit to the development and implementation of sound policies and practices focused on the achievement of Millennium Development Goals in their country
- commit to networking amongst alumni and across public sector, private sector and civil society for development benefit
- commit to strengthening relationships between African and Australian associations and organizations
- Eligible alumni are those who have studied under an Australian Development Scholarship or previous similar program for a Bachelor, Masters or Doctoral degree; have completed a Short Course Award; or have completed an Australian Leadership Award Fellowship.
