Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) offers grants for PhD studentship at University of Sheffield for which the core research focus are as follows-
- the British growth crisis
- the building of a new political architecture for the Eurozone
- the rise of the BRICs and the emergence of changing forms of capitalism in East Asia, Latin America and Africa
- the G20’s leadership and management of the global political economy and the role of other leading global institutions
The award covers fees (UK/EU or Overseas) and a full stipend at the RCUK rate (£13,590 in 2012-13). The scholarship funds up to three years full-time or six years part-time study, subject to satisfactory progress.
Proposals should include-
- A provisional title
- The main aims of research
- Key research questions and/or hypotheses
- The academic and wider value of the PhD
- An identification of links to previous literature in the area
- The methods of research proposed
- A plan and timetable of work
Eligibility–
- Applicant should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent and a Masters degree in a relevant subject area.
- Applicant should be applying to start their first year of study on a full-time or part-time PhD with the University in the 2013-14 academic year (i.e. after 1st August 2013, exact start date to be agreed with their supervisor/ department).
- Awards are open to UK, EU and international applicants.
