The Africa Regional Sexuality Resource Centre is pleased to offer two weeks Sexuality Leadership Development Fellowship program, for which themes will be sexuality, sexual health and rights, sexual diversity, pleasure, HIV/AIDS and vulnerabilities, gender and violence against women. The venue of this two-week course is Lagos, Nigeria from July 14th – 27th, 2013.
The fellowship is designed to:
- Provide exposure to cutting-edge conceptual, theoretical and programming issues in sexuality, sexual health and sexual rights
- Create a better understanding of the interaction between sexuality, development and social justice
- Facilitate the development of leadership, teamwork, public speaking and advocacy skills to advance the sexual well being within communities
The faculty for the fellowship is composed of a multidisciplinary team of experts in the field of sexuality, community leadership, advocacy and public health. The training approach incorporates a variety of participatory training methods that enable participants to acquire hands-on skills to start making a difference in their programmes and organizations. The sessions are structured to promote the sharing of ideas, team building and collaborative work amongst participants with the goal of nurturing relationships that last beyond the fellowship period.
Eligibility & Criteria
- This course is designed for young professionals in public service, civil society activists, programme officers/ managers in health and social development organizations including media practitioners
- Applicants should be aged 35 years or below
- Minimum educational qualification required is a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and demonstrable experience/interest in the area of sexuality, sexual health and rights
