European Union is accepting proposals for Supporting participation of national civil society organizations and national private sector federations/entities in FLEGT VPA -related activities in Guyana. The mission of this call for proposals is to encourage the active participation of civil society and private sector organizations in the VPA process and strengthen their capacity through specific projects that they manage.
Objective-
- To prepare and assist civil society and private sector organisations in playing an active role in the VPA FLEGT negotiation process. Activities should ideally complement the work of the National Technical working Group (NTWG) and could include:
- Dissemination of harmonized and coordinated information about the process to stakeholder
- Provide for stakeholders to participate in the process
- Improving organization and representativeness of civil society
- Developing knowledge relevant for the negotiating process
- Improving knowledge of potential impact of VPA/FLEGT,
- Development of tools for communication or analysis
- To support civil society and private sector organisations participation in the implementation of the FLEGT EPA. Activities could include:
- Conducting pilot implementation projects
- Developing sustainable legal alternatives to illegal practices
- Reinforcing civil society’s monitoring capacities for sustainable use of the resource
- Developing tools to monitor the evolution of the natural resource
- Assisting the private sector in compliance with VPA
The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is € 300.000 The Contracting Authority reserves the right not to award all available funds.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be legal persons and
- be non-profit-making and
- be non-state actors organisations established according to the legislation in Guyana
- be established in Guyana,
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary and
- be able to demonstrate to have regularly carried out activities in the field of forest governance and timber trade in the last year.
- Partnership between national organisations (applicant and co-applicant) and international partners is encouraged..
How to apply?
- Prior registration in PADOR for this Call for Proposals is obligatory.
- Phase 1, concept note: Registration in PADOR is obligatory for applicants for grants above € 60 000.
- Registration is optional but recommended for-
- applicants for grants of € 60 000 or less;
- their affiliated entity(ies).
- Phase 2, full proposal: Registration in PADOR is obligatory for all pre-selected applicants and all their affiliated entity(ies).
