Call for papers are invited for the first issue of The Barents Journal: Peoples, Economies and Politics in the Barents Euro-Arctic region. The journal is based on empirical research in the Barents Region but with strong connections to social science theories and methodologies in general. The journal is meant for researchers, students and readers interested in current issues and developments in the Barents region.
2013-2014 issues which has to be published will cover different aspects of sustainability in the region: the political, the social and the economic. The fourth issue will be a popularized one, consisting of a selection of academic articles, news, reviews and presentations.
Requirement-
- Article submission– Articles submitted for the Barents Journal should be about 8000 words in length, including references, footnotes, figures, and tables. Other material should be 500-800 words. The submission should also include a title of article, author’s name(s), affiliation(s) and contact information and a 250- words- long abstract on a separate cover letter. Submission implies that a similar manuscript has not been published nor is being reviewed for publication somewhere else. All submissions are subject to double-blind peer review, and authors are encouraged to suggest two- three potential reviewers for editors to use at their discretion.
- The manuscript– The manuscript submission will be electronic. The text should be double-spaced throughout, pages numbered and with wide margins. Text should be standard Times New Roman font 12 point. The format should be Word DOC or RTF. All papers should be written in British English. Non-English authors are encouraged to seek professional editing help before submitting the manuscript. The title and the abstract of the article should reflect the content of the article. The text of the article should be divided into chapters with short informative headings and sub-headings. Figures and tables must be referred to by their numbers in the text. Long quotations should be indented. Short quotes should be inside the text marked with quotation marks. Acknowledgements should appear at the end of article, including also possible end notes and references. Footnotes are not allowed. Authors are responsible for correct quotations, references, and permissions needed for the article.
- References- References in the text are made by giving the author’s name, the publication date and a page number. The references should be arranged in alphabetical order. In case of several papers by the same author, the references follow date order. Russian titles should appear in the transliterated version followed by the title in English in square brackets.
- Publication– The Barents Journal follows a double-blind reviewing policy. The author is responsible to have permissions to publish maps, and other material. A PDF of the proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for checking before publication. The author(s) will receive 10 complimentary copies of the print issue.
