Volkswagen Foundation is offering funding opportunity for multilateral-cooperative research projects in the Arab world. The funding is offered in the fields of social sciences, political science, and geography. The aim of this project is to reinforce networking between researchers in Germany and in the Arab region, as well as among the Arab project partners, and in particular to promote young academics. Research projects can be funded for a duration of up to three or four years.
Foundation focuses on the current processes in the Arab region by concentrating on political, social, and economic changes in these countries. Multilateral cooperative research projects with at least one German and re-search partners from two different Arab countries can be funded with up to 400,000 EUR.

Eligibility & Criteria-
- The Foundation invites candidates to apply for multilateral research projects concentrating on the current political, social, and economic transformation processes in the Arab region and their effects on other parts of the world.
- The Foundation first of all welcomes applications from the social sciences.
- Researchers from other Islamic countries or geographic regions may also be eligible for funding, provided their project design fits in with the thematic scope of the call.
- projects should also involve the participation of researchers from at least two Arab countries
