The President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) invites applications for leadership and management training to health professionals in Twelve Caribbean Countries for Supporting the University of the West Indies (UWI). Health and Human Services’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (HHS/CDC) focuses on-
- Achieving primary prevention of HIV infection through activities such as expanding confidential counseling and testing programs linked with evidence based behavioral change and building programs to reduce mother-to-child transmission
- Improving the care and treatment of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and related opportunistic infections by improving STI management; enhancing laboratory diagnostic capacity and the care and treatment of opportunistic infections; interventions for intercurrent diseases impacting HIV infected patients including tuberculosis (TB); and initiating programs to provide anti-retroviral therapy (ART);
- Strengthening the capacity of countries to collect and use surveillance data and manage national HIV/AIDS programs by expanding HIV/STI/TB surveillance programs and strengthening laboratory support for surveillance, diagnosis, treatment, disease monitoring and HIV screening for blood safety; and
- Developing, validating and/or evaluating public health programs to inform, improve and target appropriate interventions, as related to the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS, TB and opportunistic infections.

- Nonprofit with 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education), Nonprofit without 501C3 IRS status (other than institution of higher education), For-profit organizations (other than small business), Small, minority, and women-owned businesses, Universities, Colleges, Research institutions, Hospitals, Community-based organizations, Faith-based organizations, Federally recognized or state-recognized American Indian/Alaska Native tribal governments, American Indian/Alaska native tribally designated organizations, Alaska Native health corporations, Urban Indian health organizations, Tribal epidemiology centers, State and local governments or their Bona Fide Agents (this includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianna Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau), Political subdivisions of States (in consultation with States),Non-domestic (non-U.S.) entity and Other
- A Bona Fide Agent is an agency/organization identified by the state as eligible to submit an application under the state eligibility in lieu of a state application. If applying as a bona fide agent of a state or local government, a legal, binding agreement from the state or local government as documentation of the status is required.
