Legal and Cultural Services for Afghan Women and Children which it was be the name of Afghan Women Lawyers Council was established in 1974 which consists of female university lecturers of law and shariet faculties, judges, prosecutors and lawyer who worked in different legal departments. Since the establishment of the organization the members realized that due to the lack of legal awareness the women are facing enormous problems in the family and community levels.
After the end of pro soviet government, the association of women lawyers took shape again which was consist of men and women, and the women, who have reached the leading position, they participated in the law drafting, and Loya Jirga commissions.
The member of LCSAWC consists of university lecturers, the law and shariet faculties graduated, attorneys had come together and reshaped the association in 1997 in Peshawar Pakistan. In the presence of the opportunity for women in Afghanistan LCSAWC considered reopening its office in Kabul.
The tow members of LCSAWC have succeeded to be part of the judicial High Commission that enabled them to actively defend the rights of Afghan women in the commissions.
To establish relation with the women and study their situations, LCSAWC members visited women prisons, women shelter and mental hospital and house of comportment. The members of this organization also have been actively participating in National and International Conferences.
In the dark era of Taliban when the women lost all forms of their rights including the political, working and education rights, the members of organization had actively participated in defending refugee women rights in exile.
