Funding opportunity is being offered for the program “Introducing or Expanding the Use of Seasonal Influenza Vaccines in Public Health Programs Outside of the United States”. This program is funded by Department of Health and Human Services, Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The goal of this program is to conduct activities that will lead to policy decisions related to the introduction or expansion of seasonal influenza vaccine, and support the implementation of national influenza vaccination programs.
Objectives-
- Conduct a needs assessment to identify gaps and/or barriers to introducing or expanding a seasonal influenza vaccination program.
- Establish objectives and develop a 3-year Action Plan for introducing or expanding a seasonal influenza vaccination program.
- Implement the activities outlined in the 3-year Action Plan and monitor the progress toward completing milestones and objectives for introducing or expanding a seasonal influenza vaccination program.
- Introduce or expand the use of seasonal influenza vaccine to identified target groups through a national policy by the end of the third year of the Cooperative Agreement.
Eligibility & Criteria-
The only entities eligible to apply for this announcement are those that can carry out the activities described and who are within the following foreign governments: Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Oman, South Africa, Uganda and Vietnam. The announcement is restricted to these countries based on their inclusion in the Global Action Plan for Influenza Vaccines strategic plan (GAP-2). GAP-2 is collaboration between WHO, CDC’s Influenza Division and Health and Human Services Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (HHS/BARDA) to increase the production and use of influenza vaccines in low- and middle-income countries.
