Applications are invited for Haiti Disaster Risk Reduction Capacity Building program under Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended (FAA), the United States Government (USG), as represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Bureau for Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA), Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).
The goal of this program is to to build capacity of departmental-level DPCs with (A) institutional support while complementing the current efforts of the GoH and international community, notably OFDA, USAID/Haiti, and SOUTHCOM and (B) a rapid response mechanism for helping meet urgent needs following a disaster in the department.
OFDA anticipates that up to approximately US$750,000 will be available to support the program. The program duration is for up to 12 months from the date of award.
Activities-
- coordinates all disaster response operations, both for the GoH and the international community
- organizes training for staff and relevant ministries in, and raises awareness of, disaster risks and management
- provides assessment information management during responses
- develops external communications (such as public warnings) and public awareness
- supports GoH service planning and resource mobilization, including coordination of GoH requests for assistance from the international community
Eligibility & Criteria-
- All applicants must be legally recognized organizational entities under applicable law.
- Applicants must complete all required steps (if any) with the host government to legally operate their program before implementing their program.
