European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) is seeking applications for Strengthening the role of Jordanian civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform. This program aims supports groups or individuals within civil society defending democracy as well as intergovernmental organizations that implement the international mechanisms for the protection of human rights.
Objectives-
- Enhancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in countries and regions where they are most at risk;
- Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the peaceful conciliation of group interests and in consolidating political participation and representation
- Supporting actions in areas covered by EU Guidelines: dialogue on human rights, human rights defenders, the death penalty, torture, children and armed conflicts, and violence against women
- Supporting and strengthening the international and regional framework for the protection of human rights, justice, the rule of law and the promotion of democracy
- Building confidence in and enhancing the reliability and transparency of democratic electoral processes, in particular through monitoring electoral processes
The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is € 900,000.00 . The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 12 months nor exceed 36 months.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be legal persons or an entity without legal personality
- be non-profit-making
- be specific types of organisations such as: non-governmental organisations, public sector operators, local authorities, international (inter-governmental) organisations as defined by Article 43 of the Implementing Rules to the EC Financial Regulation
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or in Jordan.
- be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary
