Deadline: 15 May 2013
NGOs are invited to apply for participating in the United Nations General Assembly’s High-level Dialogue on Migration and Development (3-4 October 2013) and the Informal Interactive Hearings with NGOs, Civil Society and the Private Sector (15July 2013). Both events will take place at the UN General Assembly in New York.
The UN General Assembly is holding the second High Level Dialogue (HLD) on International Migration and Development at the UN headquarters in New York in September 2013. As roundly emphasized by participants during the Global Forum in 2011, civil society is looking towards the HLD for the potential it has to effect important change in the current international framework regarding migration and development.
As part of the preparatory activities for the General Assembly High-level Dialogue on International Migration and Development to be held 3 and 4 October 2013, the President of the General Assembly will hold one-day informal interactive hearings with representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations and the private sector at the United Nations headquarters in New York on 15 July 2013.
The objective of the informal interactive hearings is to provide an opportunity for NGOs, civil society organizations and the private sector to interact with Member States and to provide inputs for the High-level Dialogue.
Representatives of non-governmental organizations in consultative status with ECOSOC will not need special accreditation to attend the hearings and/or the High-level Dialogue. However, they need to indicate their intention to attend both events by pre-registering online at http://bit.ly/13Rsz69, so as to ensure that sufficient seating is planned for. Please note that the Secretariat may set a maximum number of participants per organization for the High-level Dialogue. The deadline for registration is 15 May 2013.
For other civil society organizations not in consultative status with ECOSOC, academic institutions and the private sector interested in participating at one or both events, there is an accreditation questionnaire online at http://bit.ly/Y1gAOH. The questionnaire should be completed online by all organizations wishing to nominate a representative to attend the hearings and/or the High-level Dialogue. Applications sent by fax and email will not be accepted. The deadline for completing the questionnaire is 15 May 2013.
