Proposals are accepted for Support to Democratic Reform in Lebanon under Europe Aid. The purpose of this program is to support deep and sustainable democracy in Lebanon.
Areas Covered-
- Support for actions that will contribute to stronger democratic institutions and processes, and more sustainable, effective and legitimate democracy involving all actors
- Support for civil society to observe, monitor and report on the transparency, fairness, inclusiveness, efficiency and reflectivity of the legislative making process
- Support for actions that contribute to improve the relations and coordination between the Parliament, the civil society organizations, political parties and the private sector; Develop research, analysis and policy making to promote public participation and associated rights
- Support for drafting and adopting legislation and effective frameworks for political participation and electoral processes including municipal elections
- Support for actions that will contribute to draft and adopt legislation and procedures facilitating participation of women and underrepresented groups in political life
- Support to allow Lebanon to participate in regional exchanges and best practices on promoting democratic participation and reforming the electoral frameworks of the Arab countries
The overall indicative amount made available under this Call for Proposals is € 900,000. The initial planned duration of an action may not be lower than 12 months nor exceed 24 months.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- be legal persons
- be non-profit-making
- be specific types of organisations such as: non-governmental organisations, public sector operators, local authorities, international (inter-governmental) organisations as defined by Article 43 of the Rules of Applications to the EU Financial Regulation
- be established in a Member State of the European Union or of a country that is a beneficiary of Regulation (EC) No 1638/2006 of the European Parliament be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
