Applications are invited for TMF Senior Journalists and editors Fellowship Program which is initiated by Tanzania Media Fund (TMF). The objective of this program is to promote media independence and quality journalism in the media, with a particular focus on public interest and investigative journalism.
Eligibility & Criteria-
- A firm commitment to working in journalism in Tanzania
- Senior print journalists and editors who write and are part of the editorial team
- Minimum 10 years working experience in senior newsroom position (senior reporters, news editors and editors)
- Have an eye and nose for news and have analytical, critical and comprehension skills to understand complex and sensitive issues.
- Accomplished and prolific writers who want to further their journalism skills and career in extractive industries NOT beginners or reporters.
- Resilient, innovative, independent, confidence and self reliant.
- Willing to become ambassadors of public information and watchdogs to society, ready to propagate good governance and accountability against misappropriation of resources
- Willingness to commit five months into the fellowship(two weeks per month in the the field, one week in seminars/feedback sessions and one week in their newsroom)
- Proven professional integrity and ethical, well mannered and disciplined
- Knowledge of English and Kiswahili
- Interest in “New Media”
- Experienced journalist with passion to specialise in extractive industries (oil, gas and minerals)
