All eligible filmmakers are invited to participate in Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) competition. The mission of this program is to support and encourage African film productions and partnerships between the countries of the continent through strengthening the humanitarian and political ties between the peoples of Africa in general and African artists in particular.
Prizes/Categories
The jury of long films shall award the following-
- Grand Nile Prize for Best Long Film ($ 5,000 and The Golden Mask of Tutankhamen).
- Jury Prize for Long Film ($ 4,000 and The Silver Mask of Tutankhamen).
- The Prize for Best Artistic Contribution in a Long Film ($ 3,000 and The Bronze Mask of Tutankhamen).
The jury of short films shall award the following-
- Grand Nile Prize for Short Film ($ 3,000 and The Golden Mask of Tutankhamen).
- Jury Prize for Short Film ($ 2,000 and The Silver Mask of Tutankhamen).
- The Prize for Best Artistic Contribution in a Short Film ($ 1,000 and The Bronze Mask of Tutankhamen).
Animation competition– The Audience Prize for Best Animation Film ($ 1000) with ASIFA
Al-Husseiny Abo Deif Competition– Al-Husseiney Abou-Deif Prize for Best Freedoms Film ($1000)
Special Award – Independent Shabab Foundation will award a $ 1,000 Prize named after filmmaker Radwan El-Kashef for best film addressing African issues.
Eligibility-
Submitted Film should be an African production, by an African director with a plot in Africa or related to Africa
