Proposals are accepted for Actors for Change program which focuses on increasing opportunities for free expression for journalists, cultural activists and Human Rights Defenders in Central America, as well as improving their safety.
Actors Program Objectives is to improve the freedom of expression and Central safety activists , focused on the work of journalists , human rights defenders and cultural activists , all considered in their role of agents of social change .
Actors for Change will support innovative ideas and edgy initiatives that involve working with ICT and media. It will be considered a plus if the project is implemented in alliance with other local organizations (women, indigenous, youth and rural sectors).
Thematic areas-
- improving the conditions for freedom of expression in Central America, including artistic and cultural expression
- promoting the safety and security of Human Rights Defenders
Along with the grants, the program seeks to protect and expand the space for free expression in Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua by amplifying the voices of those who dare to speak out, protecting them when necessary and developing their capacity to operate safely and efficiently.
