Section O: Also in no more than 500 words, applicants need to describe the project’s overall vision for change as well as what outcomes are anticipated as a result of the strategies used in the project.
Example 1: Our vision for change is for our children, both girls and boys, to live, work, learn, and play in a violence free society through a cultural shift that needs to take place in the way that girls and women are treated in all walks of life. As a result of the strategies used in our project, we expect the following outcomes to be achieved:
- Development, formal acceptance, and implementation of policies and procedures.
- A heightened awareness about the issue including how implementation of policies and procedures make a positive impact on society for the benefit of all.
- An increase in the number of schoolgirls using safe spaces to learn and play in a violence-free environment.
- A drop in the number of incidents of violence against girls in the targeted area within the first year of program implementation.
- Replicating the program in other schools so that the cultural shift in attitudes towards and the treatment of women can occur more rapidly.
Example 2: The XYZ Foundation’s vision of change is to work toward eradicating sexual harassment and violence in the workplace in garment factories located in India. Through our efforts, we expect that India-based garment factories will be legally required to implement sexual harassment and workplace violence policies and procedures. In addition, we expect local and national governance in India to clarify workplace violence and sexual harassment laws, ensure that women can make a claim of sexual harassment and workplace violence incidents without fear for retribution, and that those convicted of these terrible actions are held accountable for their actions, either criminally and/or civilly. Cultural change takes time, but we anticipate through our collective efforts that workplace violence and sexual harassment will cease to be an issue within a decade.
