Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) is accepting fellowship applications for training on ‘Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries : Monitoring and Evaluation of Aquatic Resource Use for a Sustainable Fish Supply – Understanding the wider Ecosystem Impacts of Fishery’ being held from 22 September to 10 October 2014. Major objective of the fellowship program is to help fisheries manager in coastal regions maintain healthy ecosystems and a vibrant fishing sector.
Training course Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF) organized by Wageningen UR Center for Development Innovation, the Netherlands, and being conducted in Pretoria, South Africa, aims at monitoring and evaluating the resource use and wider impacts of fisheries. The course will make participants familiar with EAF-theory and provide them with analytical tools to make more sense of socio-economic and fisheries data. Discussion on various forms of fisheries management and guide through the first steps of EAF will help the participants gain better understanding of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF), equipping them with the knowledge on applying EAF in their own situation, fisheries catch and effort data analysis method and others.
NFP Fellowship covers travel, accommodation, tuition fee and insurance.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Wageningen UR Center for Development Innovation training course on Local Economic Development requires relevant tertiary education with minimum three years of work experience. Participants must be fluent in English language.
- Individuals with an an academic degree (BSc or equivalent) in a discipline relevant for fisheries management, and have at least three years of relevant working experience in fisheries management, research, higher education in fisheries related subjects, fisheries extension and training, development of coastal or lakeside communities or other fisheries related work fields are eligible to apply.
- To be eligible for NFP Fellowship, applicants must be government or non-government professionals who are the nationals of and work and live in NFP Country (in the regions the training course is accepting applications from) with at least three years experience and is nominated by her/his employer with clear need for training within the context of organization.
Application Procedure –
- Applicants must register for short-course at Center for Development Innovation (CDI).
- Nuffic sends an admission letter with instructions on how to apply for a NFP fellowship at Nuffic once the application for short course is received at CDI.
- Eligible candidates can apply for NFP through Nuffic system, Scholarship Online (SOL).
