Young Clergy Initiative Fund invites grant applications from individuals 35 years of age or younger, for ‘YCI Grant’ 2014. The major aim of the grant program is to support young people’s participation in jurisdictional conferences.
Individuals can request grant on projects that prepare young people to hear God’s call to ordained ministry; assist them in responding to God’s call to ordained ministry; develop young people in spiritual and theological formation; and nurture young clergy for lifelong transformational ministry.
While preparing the application for submission to Young Clergy Initiatives, the applicants should consider how their projects is supported by matching funds or supporting funds in addition to the YCI; how the project engage and empower young people, how the project addresses ethnic and gender diversity and contributes to cultural and systemic change along with others.
This initiative is in addition to the funds that the church already has budgeted for discernment, recruitment, nurturing, education, and support of young clergy leaders.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Any United Methodist related institution and/or Annual Conference can apply as well as anyone else concerned with the identification, development, and support of young clergy in The United Methodist Church is eligible to apply for the grant.
- All United Methodist seminaries; all local United Methodist churches; annual Conferences and their official agencies, commissions, and committees; General Agencies; Judicial Council; and General Conference can be the partners on the projects.
