Africa EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) is inviting applications from young journalists in Africa or the European Union (EU) for ‘Young Journalists Scholarships’ to participate in Second High Level Meeting 2014. The main objective of the meeting is to encourage continuous reporting by journalists to contribute to improving the reporting on such issues and to raising the awareness about the provision of energy services in a country.
Selected Young Journalists will report on the conference sessions through Press Releases, Social and New Media channels including Twitter, video clips and interviews, and the official conference website. This is also an opportunity for the young journalists to submit stories, interviews, and reports to their own countries/outlets.
The scholars will receive pre-conference briefing/training session with the AEEP Secretariat, a round-trip travel ticket to Addis Ababa, as well as accommodation and subsistence for the duration of their stay, including a refund of visa costs, and airport transfers.
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicants must be based in Africa or the EU and not more than 35 years of age.
- Applicants must be print/online/photo/video journalist with at least three years of work experience across different media and platforms.
- Applicant must be fluent in English (French is an advantage) and must be eager to work more on energy and environment issues in her/his respective country.
Application must be accompanied with a short essay, samples of work, resume/CV. And each Young Journalists will be required to submit one short story or video about an energy issue of their choice in their own country for publication prior to the conference.
