Penn Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) is accepting grant applications from U.S and non-U.S. faculty and non-faculty members for Pilot Project in HIV/AIDS. The faculty members will be awarded General Pilot Awards and non-faculty members will be awarded Mentored Research Scholar Awards. The grant project encourages applications from new investigators never have held extramural support from the NIH; established investigators who have not previously worked in HIV/AIDS; and investigators who have worked in HIV/AIDS but are planning to undertake a new research direction that is a significant departure from their currently funded work.
Projects that bridge between clinical, basic and behavioral scientists; and investigators outside the HIV/AIDS field turning their focus to relevant projects linked with CFAR HIV/AIDS investigators are highly encouraged to apply for the grant program. Projects on in HIV/AIDS clinical care, pathogenesis, virology, immunology, structural biology, vaccine development, epidemiology, or prevention research are relevant to the grant announcement.
The recipients will be awarded $40,000 for each to conduct research for a period of one-year.
Eligibility Criteria –
- U.S or non-U.S citizens who are the faculty members (post-graduate degree with an appointment equivalent to a staff scientist, assistant/research professor, associate/research professor, or professor at University of Pennsylvania, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, or The Wistar Institute) are eligible for General Pilot Awards and Non-faculty members (Instructor Research Associate) are eligible for Mentored Research Scholar Awards.
- Instructors and Research Associates are not eligible to apply.
- Application must include – abstract; biosketches; description of proposed project; budget and justification; budget form attached; relevant letters of support to be eligible for selection.
Investigators interested in applying for a Developmental Pilot are encouraged to attend Developmental Pre-Application Workshop being held on 24 January 2014 in 252 BRB II/III from 9am – 11am.
