United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is accepting concept notes for grant program ‘Operationalizing a Neighborhood Approach to Reduce Urban Disaster Risk in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)’ 2014. Main aim of the grant program is to support innovative and/or proven ways to reduce the risk of disasters to populations living in hazard-prone, marginalized and vulnerable urban neighborhoods, through applying the Neighborhood Approach.
The maximum grant amount per project will be not more than US$ 2 million for up to 36 months duration.
Eligibility Criteria –
- The concept notes for projects in following geographic locations (urban areas) are only eligible for the grant program – Jamaica (Kingston Parish, Saint Andrew Parish, and Saint Catherine Parish – only Spanish Town and Portmore); Peru (Independencia, Comas, Carabayllo, and Rimac districts within Lima Province); Colombia (any urban areas in Medellin, and Cali cities).
- Applications must target no more than one eligible urban location (may include more than one neighborhood within a targeted eligible location), but applicants may submit multiple applications.
- Applicants must be a governmental organization, which is a State, local government, or Indian tribe; a foreign public entity; a domestic or foreign nonprofit organization; a domestic or foreign for-profit organization; and a Federal agency, but only as a sub-recipient under an award or sub-award to a non-Federal entity.
- Applicants must complete all required steps (if any) with the host government to legally operate their program before implementing their program.
