Knight Foundation and Investigative News Network (INN) are inviting proposals from non-profit online news organizations for INNovation Fund. The fund aims to help online news providers diversify their revenues, invest in their businesses and experiment with technology innovations to help increase their prospects for long-term viability.
Project ideas that show the greatest potential for developing entrepreneurial, and sustainable business practices, understanding audience needs, using innovative technologies and practical learning from digital-age news experiments will be awarded the grants. Recipients will use the funding to explore new innovations and revenue sources, while developing audience engagement techniques and stronger business models.
The total fund for a period of two years is $1million. Average grant support per organization is $25,000.

- Events
- Technology
- Sales Development
- Services Development
- Membership Development
- Operations Development
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicants must be non-profit, online news organization in the United States and public media organization.
- Proposal must be limited to investments in sustainability and initiatives that show how audience engagement can translate into revenue.
