NERC Science of the Environment is inviting grant applications on Unlocking the Potential for Groundwater for the Poor in sub-Saharan Africa. The major purpose of the grant program is to fund large-scale, interdisciplinary social and natural science research projects to develop new knowledge and build capacity to enable developing countries in South Saharan Africa to benefit from the use of groundwater in a sustainable way.
The maximum grant available is up to £1.9M FEC.
Eligibility Criteria –
- UK higher education institutions and other independent UK research organizations, non-UK and other UK organizations; Non-UK organizations (and other UK organizations not currently eligible to receive Research Council funding) can apply if they satisfy all the following criteria –
- Organization must be a legal entity.
- Organization must be able to demonstrate an independent in-house capability to undertake and lead research and training in the field or discipline in which it wishes to be funded.
- The organization must meet the accountability and audit requirements of the UPGro funders.
- Application must have named Principal Investigator (PI).
