United States Agency for International Development (USAID) – Georgia is requesting applications to support program entitled ‘Civic Education Initiative’. The major purpose of the program is to increase awareness of and appreciation for democratic values through the expansion and institutionalization of secondary school civic education curricula and practical applications.
The program intends to expand the availability of quality school-based civic education to increase the skills and commitment of youth to participatory democracy and make impact on students’ attitudes towards women and the roles of women in public engagement – which over time would ideally lead towards a greater inclusion of women in political processes by incorporating gender equality in civics oriented activities.
Objectives –
- Increased Number of Secondary Schools Offering High Quality Civic Education Courses
- Practical Opportunities for Young People to Engage in Civic Life Expanded
- Capacity of Government and Non-Governmental Institutions to Promote and Implement Civic Education Strengthened
Eligibility Criteria –
- U.S. and non-U.S. entities, such as private, non-profit organizations (or for-profit companies willing to forego profits), including private voluntary organizations, universities, research organizations, professional associations, and relevant special interest associations are eligible to apply.
- Applicant organizations must have a commitment to non‐discrimination with respect to beneficiaries and adherence to equal opportunity employment practices.
- Cost sharing is must.
