Students from the Balkans and around the world are invited to apply for A.U.K. Peace Building Post-Conflict Transformation and Development Program to be conducted in Kosovo from 29 June to 1 August 2014. The program will focus on the background to the Kosovo conflict of the late 20th century; the dynamic nature of security in the period following the fighting, and continuing challenges to conflict transformation and development.
The program offers the participants to tour historic, cultural, and politically significant sites in the scenic Balkans and Kosovo along with an opportunity to expand cultural and social horizons who gain and enhance new intellectual skills and knowledge.
The program offers courses in –
- The Origins and Resolution of Conflicts in the Balkans and Globally
- The Economics of Post-Conflict Resolution
- Human Rights and Journalism in Conflict Regions
Program Packages –
- Two Courses – three semester credit hour
- A choice of Two Trips – Montenegro, Bosnia, and Serbia or Albania, Greece, and Macedonia
Eligibility Criteria –
- Applicant students can be from anywhere in the world.
- Applicants must have an interest in learning about the timeless issues of war and peace in a newly born country that has not fully recovered from violent conflict.
- Applicants must attach a letter of recommendation, a scanned copy of their passport, financial statement, and a 500-word essay on why s/he needs scholarship funding – along with the online application form to be eligible for the scholarship.
