Morris Animal Foundation (MAF) is inviting proposals from candidates who already possess a veterinary degree and want to obtain a PhD for Veterinary Fellowship for Advanced Study (VSAF). Foundation partners with an academic institution to provide training to the selected candidates.
Funding will be provided by Morris Animal Foundation ($40,000/year) and the academic partner ($20,000/year) making a total of $60,000 to each student each year for the duration of four years. The money can be applied to the participant’s tuition/fees, fringe benefits, stipend/salary, living expenses, and others. The academic partner is the institution which offers a firm financial commitment and a defined program of study to the candidate.
Recipients of an MAF VFAS are required to work in the field of animal health research for at least four years after program completion.
Eligibility Criteria –
- All research activities throughout the program must ascribe to Morris Animal Foundation’s Health Study Policy.
- Applicant can already be admitted to the PhD program at the time of application, however, the institution needs to give assurance that, if awarded; this position would be new and would not replace an existing position in the program.
- An individual cannot directly apply. A firm financial commitment and a defined program of study from the candidate’s institution is must to be considered for the fellowship.
- Candidate to participate in this fellowship will begin his or her degree program in the fall of 2014.
