Transitional Research Group (TRG) ‘Poverty Reduction and Policy for the Poor between the State and Private Actors: Education Policy in India since the Nineteenth Century’ is accepting applications for Postdoctoral Fellowships.
Research Areas –
- Nineteenth and twentieth-century global educational reform movements and their impact on universal schooling in India.
- The quest for universal elementary/school education, the private sector and edu-business.
- Caste discrimination and education policy.
- Industrial restructuring, informalization, and their consequences for access to elementary education.
- Adult education and the popularization of practical scientific knowledge.
- Industrial and technical institutions and the re-signification of manual labor.
- The impact of schooling on life histories.
Priority is given to the above mentioned seven research areas though applications for relevant topics outside these areas are also considered for fellowship.
The fellowships are for initially 1 year and can be renewed to up to 2 years.
Fellowship Amounts –
- For postdocs affiliated to a partner institution in Delhi and working closely with a project partner at JNU or CSDS is Rs 65 000 per month
- For postdocs affiliated to CeMIS Göttingen: €2,200 per month; for postdocs affiliated to partner institutions in London is €2,500 per month.
Application materials include – Curriculum vitae, copies of relevant examinations, research proposal (maximum 5000 words), a writing sample (a chapter or essay), the names and addresses of two referees.
