The United States Agency for International Development mission in Pakistan (USAID/Pakistan) is inviting applications for the Centers for Advanced Studies (CAS) project. The major purpose of the program is to support Pakistan’s economic development by strengthening the capacity of Pakistani universities to respond to changing public and private sector needs for applied research and skilled graduates in the sectors of food security/agriculture, water and energy.
Centers for Advanced Studies will be established in three areas –
- Water
- Food Security and Agriculture
- Energy
The project will assist in –
- Revising curricula as well as reforming financial management, governance, teaching and other areas necessary to make university education and research more relevant to the needs of industry and government
- Developing relevant policy dialogue and reforms for each technical sector led by the policy think tanks in each CAS
- Establishing robust scholarship and exchange programs
- Networking activities
- Strengthening university capacity to deliver quality applied research Enhancing the responsiveness of university research and graduates’ skills to the needs of the public and private sector
Eligibility Criteria –
- Qualified U.S. colleges and universities (both private and public, including minority serving institutions, community colleges, and women’s colleges) are eligible to apply.
- Non-U.S. colleges and universities in countries that are ineligible for assistance under the Foreign Assistance Act or related appropriations acts are ineligible.
