The America Solidaria has launched the second round of applications for the Professional Fellowship Project themed ‘Change is in your hands, Let us start with you!’ The fellowship is a service-year program in which the fellows will be taken out-of-country for a two weeks orientation. The orientation provides them cross-cultural, technical, health and safety skills. After the orientation, they will be placed in different organizations in Latin America as volunteer according to their skills and competence.
America Solidaria (AS) partners with local organizations in Latin America and the Caribbean to examine and identify the main problems of the community in order to identify possible solutions.
The major aim of the fellowship program is to alleviate poverty and inequality with focus on health, education and economic development (generating employment and promoting entrepreneurship) to benefit children and youth. Application is accepted from any background or technical experience as each individual volunteer placement will require different specific skills.
The fellowship covers – travel to and from country of service, visa expenses, placement at a host organization, housing and monthly living stipend, health insurance, alumni Americas network, and out-of-country orientation (two weeks).
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be US citizen or permanent resident, maximum 35 years of age.
- Applicant must hold Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Applicant must be fluent in Spanish language.
- Applicants with professional experience in the NGO/nonprofit/social or public sector are given preference.
- There is no restriction of professional/academic background or technical experience.
