IPPF Africa Region Call for Applications: Youth Action Fund 2015 to Promote Young People’s Sexual and Reproductive Rights

International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Africa Region invites innovative projects developed, implemented and managed by young people that promote young people’s sexual and reproductive rights, youth leadership and participation for Youth Action Fund, Edition 2015. This is an exclusive funding for Youth Action Movements.

The Youth Action Movement (YAM) is the Youth arm of IPPFAR volunteer’s body based within the Member Associations (MAs) that catalyze Youth participation. YAM plays a key role in identifying priority areas and needs for young people to be fed into the MAs plans and the regional plans thus enriching the process of consultation and involvement of this audience (young people).

Each YAM can apply for a maximum of USD 5,000. The project period will be from Mid-April 2015 and will run for 6-9 months.

Proposals can be made for innovative project that strengthen leadership capacities of YAM and

  • Contribute to translate rights of Adolescents and Young people into actions in applicant’s country.
  • Empower adolescents and Young people, especially girls and the most vulnerable to fight for their rights or for others.
  • Increase access of Adolescents and Young people to services that meet their needs and rights.
  • Expand and strengthen the Youth action Movement and regional Networks at country level.
  • Consolidate, replicate or expand pre-existing promising Youth led projects, including from the previous edition and the ARO Youth Internship project and Youth Action Funds.
  • Document success and good practices in the area of Youth Participation and leadership.

Past Projects: In 2014, the fund supported 6 exciting YAM projects from

  1. Kenya : Safe space and services for Adolescents and Young people LGBTI
  2. Mozambique: Access is my right!
  3. DRC : ‘’Offre des services de PF aux jeunes filles vivant dans la rue’’
  4. Niger: Youth Action against Early Marriage
  5. Cameroon: PRES, Plaidoyer pour le respect des engagements en SDSRAJ (PRES)
