The Research Council of Norway is calling proposals from Norwegian research institutions for proposals on women rights and gender equality.
Amount of funding presumed available for this call for proposals: NOK 13 million is available for the call up to 6 million NOK per research project.
NORGLOBAL is established to strengthen Norwegian research on and for development in low- and middle-income countries, and also strengthen research capacity in these countries.
Thematic priorities
- Efforts to strengthen girls’ and women’s rights in global normative processes,
- Gender mainstreaming in major Norwegian foreign and development policy focus areas,
- Evidence for and assessment of successful and unsuccessful initiatives to promote women’s full participation in political, economic and social life. What works, how and why, and what does not in the production of effective and sustainable gender empowerment.
- Education systems and educational policies to promote gender equality
- Gender-based violence,
- Women’s participation in the security sector and in peacebuilding efforts, and combatting sexual violence in conflict and post-conflict situations,
- Vulnerable masculinities, exclusionary processes, and possibilities of inclusion.
Eligible Partner Countries
- Prioritized countries: Afghanistan, Haiti, Mali, Palestine, Somalia, South-Sudan, Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Tanzania.
- Other countries for cooperation: Angola, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Burundi, Colombia, Cuba, Democratic republic of Congo, Philippines, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Morocco, Nicaragua, Niger, Nigeria, North-Korea, Pakistan, Papua New-Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe, East-Timor.
Eligibility Criteria
- All proposals must be written in English.
- At least one partner from the list of eligible partner countries must be included in each project.
- All project partners must actively participate in the project and be involved in all parts of the process, including writing the proposal and reporting results.
