UNDP is inviting applicants for its Civil Society and Media Small Grants Program to strengthen capacities and create opportunities for local CSOs and local Media to network, and to engage with authorities, to improve citizens’ participation in peace and development.
The program aims to support an enabling environment for people-centered development that reaches out to all, for democracy to flourish and citizens to realize their basic human rights.
Objective
The overall objective of this initiative is strengthen capacities of networks of local CSOs and local/ethnic media to support citizens’ and communities’ engagement in local development and monitoring of public service delivery within their respective States/Regions including :
- institutional capacity development for the emerging State/Regional networks of local CSOs
- local/ethnic media to become effective self-managed and self-sustaining network associations/organizations
Size of Grants
The grants may range from USD 20,000 to USD 150,000.

- Institutional capacity development
- Specific initiatives or activities for practical experience that create a model at township level
Eligibility Criteria
- Community driven development institutions in Myanmar, that support local governance in service delivery; and inclusive growth, including agricultural development and enhancement of employment opportunities for women and men are eligible to apply for the program.
- Civil society organizations and networks strengthened for participation in local governance through building skills and knowledge for democratic process and dialogue, and enhancing access to information, with emphasis on addressing gender gaps and rural-urban gaps are also eligible to apply.
How to Apply
- Eligible networks must submit their written proposals and all related correspondence in English at the address provided in the link.
- The proposal should attach all required legal evidence, including evidence of legal registration and organizational bank account.
- Only one proposal can be submitted per eligible network.
