The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is currently seeking application from eligible candidates for the post of Social Development Specialist for its Urban Development and Water Division the position to be located at ADB headquarters Manila, Philippines.
The key responsibilities of Social development Specialist
To provide assistance, technical guidance, knowledge sharing and capacity building to ensure that social safeguards (i.e., involuntary resettlement and indigenous peoples) and other social development dimensions (i.e., social analysis, inclusiveness and accountability; poverty reduction; gender and development; HIV/AIDS, participation, labor, and non-government organization (NGO) operations) are adequately addressed and incorporated in the operational activities of SEUW and SERD, including the development, implementation and administration of loan-financed, technical assistance (TA) projects, and non-lending products and services.
Work with broad policies and objectives, working directly with clients, with supervision for critical tasks.
Eligibility Criteria
Master’s Degree, or equivalent, in applied social science, e.g. sociology, anthropology, human geography, development economics, or related fields. University degree in applied social science, e.g. sociology, anthropology, human geography, development economics, or related fields combined with specialized experience in similar organization/s may be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree
Relevant Experience
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience in safeguards work, or related area and in project administration
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- International experience working in development in several countries
