UNDP is currently inviting application for the Climate Change Storytelling contest for raising public awareness on the negative impacts of climate change on people and communities in low and middle income countries. The contest provides young journalists in developing countries a unique opportunity to contribute to the global debate on climate change in the run-up to COP21, while building their capacity, and providing recognition for excellence.
Selected different stories will be published every day from 2nd to 29th November. The two winning journalists will cover the climate conference in Paris.
Thematic Areas
UNDP have a special interest in articles that address the impact of climate change on human rights (impact on health & work environment, access to food and water, right to live in a specific community, etc.) and the solutions that can impact positively local communities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Participants are the young journalists under 35 year of age.
- Participants are from developing countries vulnerable to the impact of climate change.
- Participants are already engaged in public writing through an official media outlet.
- Participants have a strong interest in reporting on climate change as a contribution – locally and internationally – towards greater public awareness on this critical global topic.
- Participants are eager to seize an opportunity to build their journalistic capacity and contribute to COP21.
- Participants can submit only one entry, either individually or as a team.
- Stories length needs to be 600 to 1000 words long and include at least 5 pictures.
