The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Coordination Assistant – National UN Youth Volunteer, based in Kyiv, Ukraine.
UNDP works in more than 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Coordination Assistant will perform the following functions-
- Compile background materials, information notes, and letters on various topics related to the UN operation;
- Provide support with English to Ukranian translation of various documents, including incoming and outgoing communications;
- Support organization of events and meetings by distributing and coordinating invitations.
- Provide support to missions, including incoming ones, and to the RCO staff;
- Provide any other support as required by the team;
- Strengthen the knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and taking active part in UNV events;
- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the country;
- Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities;
- Contribute articles/write-ups on volunteering experiences and submit them to the team at UNVHQs for consideration (beyond other communications responsibilities), and input to the UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.;
- Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Fluency in spoken and written English, Ukrainian and Russian is required;
- Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded;
- UN Youth Volunteers must be between 18 and 29 years for the whole duration of their assignment;
- Applicant must be a citizen of Ukraine or legally resident in Ukraine;
- Computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).
